Getting started
Getting startedWhat is Talon Trader Funding?
Talon runs a two-stage simulated futures trading programme. You buy access to an evaluation called T-Flight. If you meet its objectives, you activate a Crest account — a simulated-funded account on which you can become eligible for performance-based rewards paid by Talon.
All Talon trading is simulated at every stage. You are not trading real money, no order is routed to a live exchange, and Talon holds no funds on your behalf. See the Risk Disclosure.
Getting startedHow does the programme work, start to finish?
- Buy a T-Flight evaluation — choose an account size and a variant (EOD or Intraday).
- Trade the evaluation — reach the profit target without breaching the drawdown or the daily loss limit, inside the 28-day access window. Pass in as little as 1 day.
- Activate a Crest account — pay the activation fee (upfront at signup at half price, or deferred until after you pass).
- Trade Crest and request rewards — once you meet the reward conditions.
Getting startedWhat account sizes are available?
Four: 25K, 50K, 100K and 150K. The profit target, drawdown, daily loss limit, contract caps and reward caps all scale with the size you choose.
Getting startedWhat is the difference between the EOD and Intraday variants?
Both variants have the same profit target and the same maximum drawdown. They differ in one respect:
- EOD — has a daily loss limit. Hitting it halts your session; trading reopens the next session.
- Intraday — has no daily loss limit.
The two variants are priced differently. See Pricing.
T-Flight — the evaluation
T-FlightWhat are the T-Flight profit target, drawdown and daily loss limit?
| Objective | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starting balance | $25,000 | $50,000 | $100,000 | $150,000 |
| Profit target | $1,500 | $3,000 | $6,000 | $9,000 |
| Maximum drawdown | $1,000 | $2,000 | $3,000 | $4,000 |
| Daily loss limit (EOD only) | $500 | $1,000 | $1,500 | $2,000 |
The maximum drawdown is a trailing minimum-account-balance floor. The Intraday variant carries the same drawdown and no daily loss limit.
T-FlightHow many contracts can I trade on T-Flight?
| Contract class | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini | 3 | 7 | 10 | 15 |
| Micro | 30 | 70 | 100 | 150 |
Caps are enforced on the platform. Crest caps are lower than T-Flight caps — see Crest contract limits.
T-FlightDo I need a minimum number of trading days, and what counts as one?
No. You can pass a T-Flight evaluation on the first day if you reach the profit target without breaching the drawdown or daily loss limit. There is no minimum trading-day count.
The "qualifying day" concept still matters for Crest's own reward conditions (see when can I request a reward) and for the anti-flipping rule below. A day counts as qualifying only if your net result for that day moves by at least the threshold for your account size. A gain or a loss both count — the rule is about genuine activity, not about winning.
| Programme | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K | 250K | 300K |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T-Flight | ±$150 | ±$200 | ±$250 | ±$300 | n/a | n/a |
| Crest | ±$100 | ±$200 | ±$300 | ±$300 | ±$300 | ±$300 |
Token or self-cancelling trades placed only to tick a day off do not create a qualifying day.
T-FlightHow long do I have to pass? What is the 28-day window?
A T-Flight evaluation is open for 28 calendar days. The clock starts when the account is provisioned after purchase — not when you first log in.
The window ends early if you pass or fail. Accounts still open at the end of day 28 are closed automatically.
Crest accounts have no access window — see Does a Crest account expire?
T-FlightCan I reset a failed T-Flight evaluation?
No. T-Flight evaluations are not reset — if an evaluation ends, you purchase a new one. Reset fees apply to Crest accounts only.
T-FlightHow many accounts can I hold at once?
- T-Flight: unlimited.
- Crest: up to 10.
Both limits are at Talon's discretion and may change with notice to traders. One person may hold only one profile — see Terms of Use.
Crest — the simulated-funded account
CrestWhat is a Crest account?
A Crest account is the simulated-funded stage that follows a passed T-Flight evaluation. It is the only stage on which rewards can be earned. Trading on Crest is simulated, exactly as it is on T-Flight.
You reach it by passing T-Flight and paying the activation fee — see activation fee.
CrestWhat are the Frozen Floor and the Payout Figure?
Two numbers govern a Crest account:
- Frozen Floor — your starting balance plus $100. This is both the point at which the trailing drawdown stops trailing and the level your balance may never touch or fall below.
- Payout Figure — your starting balance plus the profit target. Your balance must be at or above this figure at the moment you submit a reward request.
| Level | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frozen Floor | $25,100 | $50,100 | $100,100 | $150,100 |
| Payout Figure | $26,500 | $53,000 | $106,000 | $159,000 |
| Maximum drawdown | $1,000 | $2,000 | $3,000 | $4,000 |
| Daily loss limit (EOD) | $500 | $1,000 | $1,500 | $2,000 |
An approved reward may take your balance below the Payout Figure, but never to or below the Frozen Floor.
CrestHow many contracts can I trade on Crest?
| Contract class | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini | 2 | 5 | 7 | 10 |
| Micro | 20 | 50 | 70 | 100 |
Crest caps are deliberately lower than T-Flight caps. Do not assume the size you traded during the evaluation carries over.
CrestWhat is the 20% consistency rule?
On a Crest account, no single trading day's profit may exceed 20% of the account's total profit at the time you request a reward.
There is no consistency rule on T-Flight. Full detail is in the Payouts (Rewards) Policy.
CrestDoes a Crest account expire? Is there a monthly fee?
No to both. A Crest account has no access window and no recurring fee — the activation fee is a one-time charge. A Crest account ends only on account failure or after the fifth approved reward.
The inactivity rule still applies.
CrestCan I reset a Crest account, and what does it cost?
| Account | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reset fee | $200 | $300 | $400 | $500 |
A Crest account may be reset at most five times in total. After the fifth reset you must purchase a new T-Flight evaluation and pass it again.
A reset produces a genuinely new Crest account with a new account number and every normal Crest condition reapplied from the start — Frozen Floor, Payout Figure, the ten-day minimum and the consistency rule.
Rewards (payouts)
RewardsWhen can I request a reward?
Every one of the following must be true when you submit:
- Ten (10) qualifying days on the Crest account, counted from the first day the account was traded or from your last reward request, whichever is later. The count restarts after each request.
- Your balance is at or above the Payout Figure for your account size.
- No single trading day's profit exceeds 20% of the account's total profit.
- The request is at least $500.
- You are in good standing, with identity and tax verification complete.
The Payouts (Rewards) Policy governs.
RewardsHow much can I request at once?
| Account | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum per reward | $1,000 | $1,500 | $2,000 | $2,500 |
The minimum request is $500 on every account size.
RewardsWhen are requests reviewed, and how are they paid?
Requests may be submitted on any day after 6:00 PM ET from your trader dashboard. Talon reviews every request within 24 hours, and approved requests are paid the same day they are approved.
Payment is sent by ACH to domestic (U.S.) accounts and by SWIFT to international accounts, less any applicable transfer fees. Rewards are paid only to an account in your own name. Arrival time depends on your bank.
RewardsWhat is the profit split?
You keep 100% of the five capped rewards. If you are later converted to a live-funded arrangement, the split becomes 50/50 under a separate agreement.
RewardsWhat happens after my fifth reward?
A Crest account is eligible for up to five (5) approved rewards. After the fifth, the account stops accepting new requests and your combined T-Flight and Crest performance is reviewed. Qualifying traders are contacted about conversion to a live-funded arrangement. Traders who are not contacted may start again with a new evaluation.
RewardsIs a reward a withdrawal of my money?
No. A reward is a performance-based payment made by Talon from its own operating funds, based on simulated results. It is not a withdrawal, a share of trading revenue, a dividend or a wage, and Talon holds no funds on your behalf. Fees you pay are not deposits and cannot be withdrawn.
Trading rules and conduct
Closing your trades is your responsibility.
Closing your trades is your responsibility.
All trades must be closed by 4:45 PM Eastern time.
If a trade is still open after 4:45 PM Eastern time, your account will be failed and the trade will be liquidated.
Our kill switch being non-functional does not exempt you from this rule.
Trading rulesIs averaging down or scaling into a position allowed?
Yes. Scaling into a position and averaging down are permitted, provided your total position stays within your contract caps and does not breach the disproportionate-risk rule in the Prohibited Activities policy.
Permission covers the technique. It is not an exemption from position sizing.
Trading rulesWhat happens if I stop trading for a while?
Five consecutive trading days with no qualifying activity closes the account and forfeits accumulated gains. A day counts as activity only if it meets the qualifying-movement floor for your programme and account size — see qualifying days.
Trading rulesWhat trading is not allowed?
Orders must be your own discretionary decisions, entered manually by you. Algorithmic, automated and high-frequency trading are prohibited, as are a number of other practices set out in full in the Prohibited Activities policy. Read it before you trade — not knowing a rule is not a defence.
A breach may result in failure of every account you hold, forfeiture of all accumulated simulated gains, cancellation of every reward request in progress including approved ones, and permanent closure of your profile.
Trading rulesCan I hold offsetting positions across separate accounts?
No. Deliberately circumventing position limits — for example by offsetting positions in the same instrument class across separate accounts — is prohibited and is grounds for payout forfeiture and account failure.
Trading rulesCan I use a VPN, or let someone else trade my account?
No to both. Using a VPN, proxy, remote-desktop tool or any other means of disguising where a session comes from is prohibited. Talon accounts are personal and non-transferable — you may not allow a third party, including a challenge-passing service or another trading firm, to trade your account.
Where Talon determines this prohibition has been breached, the user ID is terminated, all associated accounts are closed, all profits are forfeited and all reward requests are cancelled, including approved ones.
Trading rulesWho decides whether a rule has been broken?
Automated systems may flag activity for review, but they do not make final determinations. Any decision to fail an account, forfeit gains or cancel a reward is made by Talon personnel after a documented review of the account record.
Instruments and commissions
InstrumentsWhat can I trade?
38 instruments — 30 mini and 8 micro. No instrument outside this list is permitted on a Talon account, even where a mini or micro of that product exists elsewhere.
You can see the same list on the platform: in R|Trader Pro, click the account name and choose View Risk Parameters.
Cryptocurrency futures are not offered.
InstrumentsWhat commission do you charge?

No. Cryptocurrency futures are not offered on any Talon account, and there is no plan to add them.
Pricing, billing and refunds
Pricing & billingWhat does an evaluation cost?
| Evaluation | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intraday | $199 | $249 | $399 | $599 |
| EOD | $399 | $450 | $590 | $1,090 |
These are list prices. Promotional pricing runs from time to time — the price shown at checkout is the price you pay, in U.S. dollars. See the account builder for current pricing.
Pricing & billingWhat is the activation fee, and when do I pay it?
The activation fee turns a passed evaluation into a live Crest account. You choose when to pay it:
| Option | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront with the evaluation (50% off) | $50 | $75 | $100 | $125 |
| Deferred until after you pass | $100 | $150 | $200 | $250 |
Deferred activation must be paid within 7 business days of passing. Paying upfront halves the fee but is paid whether or not you go on to pass.
Pricing & billingIs this a subscription? Will I be billed again?
A T-Flight purchase is a single, one-time charge covering the 28-day evaluation window. It does not auto-renew. Crest has no recurring fee either — the activation fee is one-time.
The Monthly billing style is different — see the next question.
Pricing & billingHow does Monthly billing work?
A Monthly account is billed in two stages: your card is charged a lower first-month price to open the account, then a higher renewal price per account each month after that for as long as the account stays open — the same two-price pattern shown in the checkout consent you agree to before purchase.
You get a reminder email one day before every renewal charge.
You can cancel any time before the renewal date, from the Current Accounts page in the Traders Lounge — there is no minimum term.
If a renewal charge is declined, the account is not automatically cancelled — it keeps attempting to renew until you either update your card or cancel it yourself.
A Monthly account may be reset for $37.95, same as resetting any other account.
No promotional code applies to Monthly billing, and Monthly is card payment only — crypto checkout is not available for this billing style, since a recurring charge needs a card on file.
Pricing & billingDo you run discount codes?
Yes, from time to time. A promotional code discounts the evaluation portion only — the upfront activation fee is already half price and is not discounted further.
Codes and their values are campaign-specific and change. Any active code is shown on the site; the checkout total is always the amount charged.
Pricing & billingHow does the charge appear on my statement?
As TALONPROP. If you see a charge you do not recognise, email cs@talontraderfunding.com before contacting your bank — we can identify and resolve it quickly.
Pricing & billingCan I get a refund?
A payment is refunded in full if all of the following are true:
- You request it within 72 hours of the payment;
- No order has been placed on the account that payment provisioned — any order counts, filled or not;
- No reward request has been made;
- No rule breach has occurred; and
- No chargeback has been initiated on the payment.
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, typically within five to ten business days depending on your bank. Full terms, including what is non-refundable, are in the Refund & Billing Policy.
Pricing & billingWhat is not refundable?
- Any payment once an order has been placed on the account it provisioned;
- Any payment after the 72-hour window has passed;
- Activation fees once a Crest account has been provisioned;
- Payments on failed, breached or closed accounts; and
- Reset fees once the reset has been applied.
Not passing an evaluation is not a product defect and is not grounds for a refund.
Pricing & billingWhat happens if I file a chargeback?
Filing a chargeback without first contacting us is a breach. All of your accounts are closed, all accumulated gains are forfeited, and all reward requests are cancelled — including approved requests.
If something looks wrong on your statement, email cs@talontraderfunding.com first. We respond within 1 business day and aim to resolve within 2 business days.
Account, platform and access
Account & accessWhat platform do I trade on?
Talon accounts are provisioned on the Rithmic platform. Your credentials are emailed to you automatically once payment succeeds and the account is provisioned.
Your account's live risk settings — contract caps, permitted instruments and commissions — are visible in R|Trader Pro: click the account name, then View Risk Parameters.
Account & accessI have paid but not received my credentials.
Delivery is immediate and automatic. The one exception: purchases made over the weekend may not be available until Sunday 7:00 PM CT, due to scheduled maintenance on our broker’s servers — this is shown at checkout before you pay. Check your spam folder first — provisioning mail is the most commonly filtered message we send. If it is not there, email cs@talontraderfunding.com from the address on your profile and we will resend it.
Account & accessWho is eligible to open an account?
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher (in Canada, 19 in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon), and resident in a territory Talon serves.
Talon serves traders worldwide, except in the 87 restricted territories listed in our Eligibility & Restricted Jurisdictions policy. That policy is the authoritative list of where we operate. Check it before purchasing — it governs, and it is kept current.
If you are originally from a restricted territory you may still qualify, but all four of the conditions in section 4 of that policy must be true: your ID, your primary residence, your mailing address and your bank account must all be in a permitted territory.
Members, officers, employees and contractors of Talon Trader Funding LLC, and members of their immediate households, are not eligible to participate for rewards.
Account & accessWhat identification do you accept?
Accepted: driver's licence, passport, state ID, a physical government-issued ID card, or a residency permit (excluding temporary and student visas).
Not accepted: copies, temporary IDs, expired IDs, a visa on its own, student or work IDs, digital-only versions, and photographs of an ID displayed on a screen.
Non-U.S. persons must complete a Form W-8BEN before any reward is paid.
Account & accessCan I open a second profile?
No. One person may hold only one profile. Registering more than one profile, or registering on behalf of another person, is prohibited under the Terms of Use. You may hold multiple accounts under your single profile — see how many accounts.
Account & accessHow long do I stay signed in?
Two limits apply to your Traders Lounge session, and whichever comes first ends it:
- 30 minutes of no activity. This one resets every time you use the site, so it only bites if you walk away.
- 4 hours from the moment you sign in. This one is a hard ceiling and does not reset while you work, so a long session ends at 4 hours even if you are active.
Being signed out does not touch your trading. The Lounge and your trading platform are separate — your Rithmic connection, your open positions and your orders are not affected by a Lounge sign-out. You simply sign in again to see your dashboard.
Some actions ask for your password again even inside a live session — requesting a reward and viewing account credentials among them. That is deliberate.
You can see the current limits, and turn on two-factor authentication, on the Security page in your Traders Lounge.
Account & accessHow do I contact support?
Email cs@talontraderfunding.com, or open a ticket from the Support page in your Traders Lounge.
We respond within 1 business day and aim to reach a resolution within 2 business days.
